LEARN A SECOND LANGUAGE: LEARN FRENCH

The French language and the French culture have some profound alignment with each other. Defending the mother tongue against possible decline or corruption by foreign terms, and the artful use of the mother tongue forms the major occupation for some of the citizens of France as well as some organizations in France.
There is an official standard of language purity but it is not mandatory. In fact, occasionally even the Government ignores the standard. French language and culture receives support from the Government particularly the French Cinema. The Government has also made it mandatory to use the French language in advertisement meant for the public. The French Government however, does not regulate the language used by private parties in non commercial enterprises nor does it insist that France based internet web sites be in French Language.

The French language has several variations and some of them can even be completely unrelated to French, or for that reason any other language in the world. However, until recently the French Government had by intent, repressed the regional languages. But, the situation appears to be changing now with bilingual education having been recognized in French public schools.

That then is the overview of the French language. French is a language spoken by over 175 million people across the globe. Therefore, in your pursuit for a second language or a foreign language, it would be well worth the effort to learn French. French also shares its alphabets and a good part of the vocabulary with English. Some may hold the opinion that English shares the French alphabets and vocabulary. Either way, it is “advantage” you – the learner.
