HOW TO LEARN FOREIGN LANGUAGES: LEARNING FRENCH
Language learning enriches your knowledge, widens your horizon and enables you rub shoulders with knowledgeable people. You can use the following tips to learn most of the foreign languages and especially the French language.
Allotting Time:
All studies need time and so does the learning of languages, even the French language. Before embarking on the study of the French language, you should set aside a specific time every day or on select days of the week considering your other engagements. Once the time is allotted, you should be a in a frame of mind where you can enjoy the learning process. Your body and mind should be in one piece. Distractions like blaring televisions and/or pets etc. should be kept away. The time that you choose to allocate should be quality time unhindered by other engagements and be continuous.
Listen and read:
Every time you are engaged in the task of learning the French language, you should be reading what you are listening. Pick a topic that you love most, understand most or perhaps partly understand. When you continue listening and reading, you will get accustomed to the language faster than you would when you are only doing one of the two. Reading aloud whenever you can helps you to perfect your pronunciation skills.
Focus:
Learning language involves building up vocabulary. And lots of vocabulary would be needed to make you perfect. You can use online dictionaries to make your own list and keep reviewing them. You will soon be able to find new words and phrases in other places. Over a period of time, you will begin using the vocabulary you have learned. Once you finish learning and start practicing the language you will continuously add to your vocabulary. A large vocabulary will facilitate perfect control over the language.
Responsibility:
You should take the responsibility for your own learning. You should choose content that you like most, content that you are most comfortable with. Waiting for someone to show you the path may not be the right way to go about. You should discover the language yourself like a growing up child. Keep writing whenever you can. You can become fluent if you decide to; a teacher cannot make you fluent.
Relax and Enjoy:
Do not brood over what you cannot understand or remember. You are in the process of learning and there is plenty of room for improvement. Over time, the language becomes clearer to you, but this will happen on its own schedule. You cannot control it entirely. Always make sure you spend enough time with the language and that will automate your success. |
